The brief

The brief

The brief was a simple quick turnaround Christmas card design for a prestigious law firm client. However I discovered they supported a tiny local charity for disadvantaged pre-school children. It was too good an opportunity to miss.

My work

We asked the charity if we could document the children making the card, and they said yes. So with masses of paint, many messy hands and a lot of fun, a short film was produced on a shoestring budget (thank you Mark Pickering). The children's artwork was then reproduced as the final Christmas card – 5,000 were also printed for Wilsons to sell on behalf of their charity. The film was shared to Wilsons' clients through a follow-up email campaign.

The result

The result

The response was overwhelming for Wilsons. Some of their clients even set up workplace collections for the charity. All the initial cards sold out, with additional ones being hastily reprinted. A big thank you to the children and staff of the The John McNeill Opportunity Centre for making this all possible.
